At OgeePlast Clinic, breast reduction surgery not only decreases the size and weight of the breasts to relieve neck and shoulder pain but also enhances their shape, symmetry, and projection. The procedure, known as Septum-Based Mammoplasty, offers long-term, natural results with minimal scarring and preserves nipple sensation and lactation ability.
Reduce the weight and improve the shape
A breast reduction is a procedure to reduce the weight and volume of the breasts, while at the same time improving the breast shape and aesthetics. The end goal of breast reduction surgery is to recreate natural, aesthetic breasts with beautiful projection, symmetry, and proportions. It is a very rewarding surgery to reduce
neck and shoulder pain, enhance breast symmetry, improve daily sports, and make you fit better in clothing.
A patient-tailored approach to breast reduction
A breast reduction is an outdated term and focuses only on reducing the breast volume. At the Ogeeplast Clinic, we want to offer more than just a volume reduction, which is why we prefer using the term mammoplasty. A breast mammoplasty is an all-in-one procedure, during which we can offer to the patient:
- A volume reduction
- A breast lift
- A reduction in the areola size
- Fewer scars
- Preservation of the nipple sensation and lactation ability
- Long-term stable and natural results
The septum-based mammoplasty
Nowadays, patients’ requests are very specific, and in most cases very different. Some patients wish for a maximum size reduction. Others prefer a minimal reduction as a lifting of the breast is more important to them. Also here, we hold extensive conversations with the patients to explain to them which expectations make sense and above all, which are realizable.
With the Septum-Based Mammoplasty, we can offer our patient both a safer procedure in terms of reducing the complication rate to the minimum, as well as a guaranteed long-term aesthetic appearance of the breast with adequate projection and upper pole fulness.
A breast reduction with limited incisions
At the Ogeeplast Clinic, we put all our efforts into offering our patients a breast reduction with the least incisions possible. The final scar is either a vertical scar (around the nipple and down to the breast fold) or a very short inverted T scar (with a limited horizontal scar in the breast fold). The choice to go for a vertical or inverted T scar depends on a few factors:
- Current cup size and desired cup size
- Degree of skin laxity
- Degree of breast ptosis
A thorough clinical examination before the operation is necessary to determine the right technique for your breasts.
Benefits and recovery period
A breast reduction not only reduces the weight of the breasts to relieve neck and back pain, but improves the form, shape and projection of the breasts as well. This is noticeable during sports and every day life activities, as literally a weight has fallen off your shoulders. A breast reduction has a downtime of 1 to 2 weeks with easy wound care. Physical activity should be avoided and a supportive bra should be worn for 6 weeks.
